Full Circle Hand Therapy

You can make an appointment with us in the following ways.

  • Phoning the clinic.
  • Using the online booking system.

Please keep in mind that we have multiple locations, and it is vital to highlight which location you are intending to visit to our administration staff if booking via phone call.

If paying for treatments yourself, or using your Private Health Fund extras cover, you will not need a referral.

However, if you are claiming your injury or condition through any third party, including the following, you will require a referral, as well as all relevant claim details including a claim number, or if on a care plan- your Medicare card.

  • Return to Work SA
  • Workers Compensation Claims
  • Motor Vehicle Claims
  • Department of Veteran Affairs
  • Department of Defense
  • Team Care Arrangement (TCA) or Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC)

We can accept referrals from a GP, specialist, surgeon, claims manager or any other allied health professional.

Yes. Our initial NDIS appointments will consist of a one-hour long consultation, and any following appointments may have varying durations catered to your needs. We are only able to bill NDIS ‘self-managed’ or ‘plan-managed’ funds. Consultations are billed either on the day of the appointment, or invoices will be sent through to the plan manager, considering that the claim details have been correctly provided to us. We are not NDIA registered, so unfortunately those with this funding will be asked to pay privately.

For your first appointment, we recommend that you are prepared with the following:

  • Any questions related to you injury, condition or concern.
  • Any relevant information or reports related to your injury, condition or concern (such as x-rays, ultrasounds and MRI’s.)
  • A referral, when applicable.

As per payment, we ask that you are prepared with the following relevant to your visit.

  • If a private patient, a physical private health card, as we cannot accept this on a mobile phone.
  • If a DVA patient, a valid DVA card.
  • If on an enhanced primary care plan, your physical Medicare card.
  • If claiming through a third party, a relevant claim number.

Additionally, if you are visiting us for specific activity-related concern, bring along any equipment which is associated with such activity (such as baseball glove, musical instrument, video of work environment, etc.).

Our team of Hand Therapists are trained as Occupational Therapists. Therefore, your level of cover will depend on what category of extras you have. Often, occupational therapy falls into a higher-level category. Therefore, we advise that you contact your health fund to confirm if you are eligible for a gap payment prior to your appointment. All our sites have HICAPS, which will allow for instant private health claims/reimbursements.

Your initial appointment is a 45-minute session, that will consist of a discussion with your hand therapist about how your current condition/injury/concern is affecting you. Your therapist will use this information to guide the session and assessment of the concern. This assessment may include a review of any scans, referral information and/or relevant medical history. Your therapist will ask you about any symptoms or functional difficulties you are experiencing and come to a definitive agreement regarding the priorities of your care.

Your hand therapist will follow this with a physical examination including a range of specific tests and investigations if required. To achieve your goals, your therapist will work with you in this initial appointment to develop a completely tailored treatment plan.

What can I expect after the initial appointment?

Foremost, you can expect that you will have a more succinct understanding of what is causing your condition and how to manage your symptoms. You can expect to be updated by your therapist regarding recovery timeframes for returning to activities which you may have been prevented from and have a clear idea on how you and your therapist will address these issues together. Any further appointments subsequent from your initial will be 30 minutes in length for private patients, and one hour for RTWSA and NDIS patients.

Your therapist may recommend any of the following treatment options to assist in your rehabilitation.

  • Custom fabricated orthosis/splinting.
  • Local/hands-on approach to treatment and symptom-relieving strategies.
  • Personalised exercise and management programs.
  • Equipment or aides to help with condition and functioning.
  • Advocacy and liaison with the broader treatment team, inclusive of contacts such as your doctor, surgeon, worksite or anyone else you deem important in consistent updates.

If required, we provide custom-made splints. The prices of these will reflect the size of the tool. Our most common splinting includes small finger splints, wrist splints and elbow supports. Our clinic also sells products to help with your rehabilitation, such as medical tapes or exercise products. Our therapists will discuss the relevance of these tools in your treatment and any related costs.

Yes, and we recommend this option for patients who may find regular physical attendance difficult. We will also offer this option when, due to health reasons, it is unsafe to attend the clinic face-to-face. Should you wish to book a telehealth consultation, please let our administration team know so they may guide you through the process.

Yes, we can arrange home visits for NDIS and Aged Care Home Packages. However, we prefer clinic appointments to provide all possible tools and equipment we stock. We advise that in the case of a home visit, we usually need to make two to three visits to follow up.
